HoldemPoker
With simple but pleasing graphics and animations, HoldemPoker will be a familiar face to those that have played at the popular venue PokerRoom.com. Powered by OnGame solutions, both venues offer a nearly identical format and look with their no-download rooms.
One of the notable differences is that HoldemPoker caters more towards the low-limit crowd, offering tables with limits as low as 10 cents (referred to as ‘micro-limits’) that aren’t available at its sister poker rooms. If you’re new to the game or just enjoy playing for low stakes, it’s a great place to play some poker without much of a bankroll.
There is a good number of Draw poker, Texas Hold’em and Omaha players at any given time, but 7 Card Stud for some reason is disproportionably not as popular when compared to other games. Most of the action is on the lower limit tables however, so if you’re looking for high stakes, this probably isn’t your best bet.
The room as a whole has some great features. The lobby shows player latencies, so you’ll know beforehand if someone is having connection issues. Another nice touch is that maximum rake fees are also shown for each table before you take a seat, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
There are a couple of small issues; a lack of sorting functions in the lobby, and not the best in-game interface of them all (some buttons are a little small, as are the checkboxes for choosing actions ahead of your turn.) For some reason, Seven Card Stud is also not offered in tournament formats, perhaps part of the reason why it’s not so popular here.
Getting Started
HoldemPoker is a no-download only room, meaning there is no software to download and install on your machine. Instead the poker room is launched via browser, which has the disadvantage of a slightly longer load time each time you visit but the advantage of portability, including the ability to play on operating systems other than Windows.
Free play is available, and real money players can deposit funds using NETELLER, Visa, Mastercard, Instacash, Firepay, ePassporte, and Click2Pay.
Games
HoldemPoker offers a lot more than just Texas and Omaha Hold’em games, including Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, and Five Card draw.
A very cool feature is the ability to set up your own tables easily, both private and/or public. Choose the number of players, one of three speeds, your limits and game type, and you’ve got a table to your liking either for friends (private), or for anyone who wished to join in (public).
Bonuses
New players receive a 20% bonus on their initial deposit, as well as a free tournament entry.
Customer Support
Not the greatest of options for support, which is currently only accessible via a form on their site. There are no contact numbers posted and/or live char available at this time.
